Summary About the Position: This position is located in the Defense Health Network - Central in San Antonio, Texas. This position acts under the policy guidance and direction of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (ASD(HA)). The DHA is responsible for the effective execution and operation of the Department of Defense (DoD) medical mission, which is to provide medical services and support to specified categories of individuals entitled to DoD medical care. Responsibilities Provide health system expertise on health care programs and policies. Serve as advisor to management and as a principal representative to healthcare and business optimization. Analyze administrative and clinical delivery systems to develop strategic focus for management team decisions. Provide technical and administrative oversight for clinical administrators and Service Line Business Directors. Prepare reports and proposals for submission to all levels. Evaluate the policies, procedures, and systems to monitor utilization of healthcare services and clinics/departments that are mutually beneficial and cost effective for the beneficiary and the government. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Group Practice Management of scheduling, templating, and utilization; 2) Managing resource programs in healthcare operations; 3) Analyzing healthcare delivery metrics or cost-of-care trends; 4) Recommending policies to improve healthcare delivery or organizational structure efficiencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
