Summary This position is a Health Technician (PT) located at the Whiteriver Indian Health Service Rehabilitation Services Therapy (Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapy) Department. The Rehabilitation Services therapy program treats patients with neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, integumentary, and cardiovascular and pulmonary impairments and/or disabilities. The incumbent will perform patient scheduling for therapists, administrative filing and assist with clinic supply ordering and stocking. Responsibilities Patient scheduling and check-in. Transport, ambulate, move, and lift patients. Measure, report and record vital signs and report patients' condition to the therapists. Assist with the collection of lab specimens, processed appropriately and delivered to the lab. Clean equipment and clinic exam/ treatment rooms. Prepare and assist with clinical examinations including sharp debridement, electrical stimulation, heat and cold pack application, perfusion studies and spirometry. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples Include: non-professional work of a technical or support nature in the field of health and medicine, such as taking vital signs; determining what the provider needs to treat the patient; providing instructions to patients; assisting the RN/provider in medical treatments; transporting a wide variety of specimens to the lab. OR Four (4) years of education above the High School level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples Include: non-professional work of a technical or support nature in the field of health and medicine, such as taking vital signs; determining what the provider needs to treat the patient, monitoring patient's conditions by interviewing patients; Assisting with the following: Appointment coordination, administrative support, assisting with activities of daily living, including perineal care; breastfeeding support, newborn care, and car seat training.
