Health Unit Coordinator or CNA

 

 

 

Position Summary:

 

 

 

Performs duties as a Health Unit Coordinator and as a CNA. Responsible for providing secretarial support for all employees.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 
Maintains and updates patients' records
Performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
Assists patients in dressing or undressing, bathing, or eating
Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens or gathers vital signs but does not start or administer intravenous fluids
Assists physicians and nursing staff with procedures if needed
Documents patient interactions as needed
Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
Works under immediate supervision
Performs other related duties as assigned
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

   

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

 
High school diploma or GED preferred
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required
1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified preferred
Knowledge of spelling and medical terminology preferred
BLS Required.  Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation

   

Working Conditions:

 
Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
Typical equipment used in a clinical job
Must be able to lift or move up to 20 lbs
Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height

 •Assists physician during examinations and procedures. Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse.

 •Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patient and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills

 •Performs a variety of tasks

 •A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

 •Performs other related duties as assigned

 •Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field

 •Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

 •Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Minimum Qualifications

 

•Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program

 •Licensed RN with a minimum of 3 years patient-facing nursing experience at the time of hire, ADN or diploma required; BSN or higher preferred

 •All non-BSN RNs with less than 3 years of patient-facing nursing experience at the time of hire are required to be enrolled in a baccalaureate (or higher) degree program in nursing within 1 year of employment, with completion within 3 years of hire

 •State of Idaho Registered Nurse OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the “multistate privilege to practice” compact with Idaho prior to start date •CCRN, CNOR, or a minimum of 1-year experience in Critical Care, Emergency or OR/PACU required, as applicable

 •ACLS Required

 •BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation
