Health Unit Coordinator – Medical Surgical Unit at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. This posting represents a .9 FTE, day shift opening (7am-7:30pm, 3, 12 hour shifts per week) with rotating weekends.

Contribute to a high functioning team Assist RN with admissions, discharges, and transfers Measure and record vital signs, output, and weights Collect specimens and perform fingerstick capillary blood tests Assist with client mobility and transfers, using lifts and safe patient handling devices Opportunities for continuing education and professional development, including annual CNA conference Other duties as assignedThe Health Unit Coordinator is a key person within the nursing unit, who provides overall administrative and technical assistance and support in the operation of the assigned nursing unit; and collaborates with other staff and leaders in the development, oversight, and operation of the unit. This position is the hub of all communication to and from the nursing unit; and greatly impacts the "tone" of the unit/shift.

Required qualifications:
Coursework/Training: Medical terminology course. Or equivalent educ/experience. 1 year Experience performing secretarial duties in healthcare, or equivalent training in a recognized healthcare program. Experience with a variety of software applications.Preferred qualifications:
1 year post high school education. Satisfactory completion of health unit coordinator coursework. Or equivalent educ/experience upon hire: National Certification Health Unit Coordinator. Experience as a preceptor/role model.Why Join Providence?
