Health Unit Coordinator - Orthopedics
Overview M Health Fairview is looking for a Health Unit Coordinator at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This position is 48 hours per two weeks on the Day/Evening shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, and has a block schedule. Responsibilities Job Description Responsibilities Job Description Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements Demonstrates commitment to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the HealthEast Nursing Vision Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care Performs vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing and documents cares provided Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all internal and external customers, patients, families, physicians and the interdependent team Prioritizes and transcribes written doctor's orders under the supervision of the RN Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures Patient Care Delivery: Observes and collects pertinent data and/or clinical findings to enhance patient outcomes Patient Education: Provides patient educational information appropriate to the developmental level, learning needs, readiness, cultural values, and beliefs of patients and families Patient Safety: Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves Qualifications Required Qualifications: 1 to 3 years office experience required, preferably in a health care setting Preferred Qualifications: Unit coordinator course preferred Other Required Skills: Attention to Detail: Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task Computer Skills Basic: Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc) Interpersonal Communication: Skilled in developing effective rapport with customers, co-workers, or families, actively listening to develop a positive connection We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
