IRC BACKGROUND

In the U.S., the IRC has 29 regional offices, including IRC-Wichita, which has been assisting refugees since 2011. The Wichita office offers a range of services, including resettlement, trauma-informed family support, economic empowerment, education for youth and adults, and immigration services.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The Health and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for programming that engages with local refugee, immigrant, and migrant (RIM) communities around key topics related health and wellness. They coordinate program development and implementation, ensure compliance of services within grants and contracts, participate in program fundraising and partnership development, and represent IRC Wichita in local forums on health and wellness issues. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Work across program teams within the Wichita office to determine health care needs and gaps in services for community membersSupport clients to navigate local health and mental care systems and increase access to care.Organize outreach events and workshops to provide culturally- and linguistically appropriate health and wellness information and discussion for refugee and immigrant populations.Work with the Safety and Wellness Manager to develop partnerships with local primary care health and mental centers, including specialist care to address client needsRepresent the IRC in community-led meetings, projects, etc. that advocate, promote, and provide health care services and health care access for community members.Assist in the development of a wide variety of messaging, video and other outreach materials that are culturally and linguistically appropriate and that can be distributed through trusted channels to targeted RIM communities. Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, including weekly meetings with project leads and monthly group meetings.Ensure that programs comply with all contractual and reporting requirementsEnsure quality data collection across all programs; manage the production of reports and impact data to provide insight to internal and external stakeholders Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in health care, public health, social work, or related field preferred

Work Experience:

At least two years of experience providing social services or health programming for vulnerable populations. Experience working with refugees and immigrants to navigate American social/human service systems preferred.

Ability to handle complex and sensitive cases and to work effectively with clients who have a wide range of psychosocial, protection, health, immigration, and criminal justice issues.Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives.Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully in cross-cultural environment.Solid organizational skills with ability to multi-task, set priorities, manage time and meet deadlines. Flexibility and ability to work well under pressure is essential.Well organized, self-directed, and highly motivated; ability to communicate and work effectively with collaborative partners, the community, and clients in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment.Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Word, Excel, Outlook) Spoken fluency in English, and another language spoken by IRC target population preferred. 

Working Environment: 

A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

 

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
