Healthcare Mechanic 1
Overview 2nd Shift Weekend Rotation This is an entry-level facilities maintenance position. A strong mechanical aptitude is required. The ability to read blueprints would be beneficial to perform duties of this position Knowledge in the use of a computer and related CMMS is required. This position will include performing tasks such as lamp replacement, air filter changes and minor facilities duties as assigned. This position requires the ability to work flexible hours, on call hours, alternating shifts, including weekend and holiday work. This position also performs other duties as may be assigned, including but not limited to snow removal and special events. This position is also required to assist Healthcare Mechanics 2, 3 and 4 when called upon, or assigned by the Supervisor. The duties listed below are responsibilities of a Healthcare Mechanic 1. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs preventive maintenance on equipment. Assists in the completion of special projects including insulating, painting, demolition, and general clean-up. Coordinates, places orders and periodically installs all required interior signage, including that which is associated with renovation projects. Places department orders and may be required to pick up miscellaneous supplies as necessary. This position provides potential opportunity to learn basic plumbing; electrical wiring; calibration of thermostats; hospital bed maintenance. Performs grounds keeping operations as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Certification and Licensure For those driving Mercyhealth vehicles: Maintain a valid drivers license. Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy. For those driving their personal vehicles: Maintain a valid drivers license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested. Skills and Abilities Good interpersonal communications skills Special Physical Demands This is considered heavy work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift andor move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift andor move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift andor move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift andmove over 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Level of Supervision Work is performed according to specific procedures and methods, but the incumbent must make minor decisions using independent judgment required in order to adapt to routine situations.
