The Healthcare Security Officer position helps maintain a safe and secure environment for our clients by actively monitoring the premises, including patrolling a variety of locations. They preserve order while enforcing regulations and directives for a client site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and the area. Frequently our Security Officers will provide customer service and information to a client’s employees and customers.

We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team. This role is critical to maintaining a safe and secure environment for both patients and staff. The Security Officer will work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals within the facility, which includes responding to potentially aggressive behaviors and assisting in patient restraint when necessary. This role requires experience in handling crisis situations, understanding mental health challenges, and adhering to the facility’s safety protocols. Key Responsibilities: • Monitor Facility Security: Conduct routine patrols and security checks throughout the facility to deter and respond to any safety concerns, including monitoring for unauthorized access or suspicious activity. • Assist in Crisis Management: Respond to incidents involving patient aggression or crisis situations, including assisting healthcare teams with restraining patients as necessary in accordance with established protocols. • Patient Safety Support: Work collaboratively with clinical staff to ensure patient safety, providing a secure environment for both patients and staff while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. • Surveillance: Operate and monitor security systems (CCTV, alarms, etc.) to ensure facility security and promptly address any security breaches. • Emergency Response: In case of emergencies (e.g., medical, behavioral crises), respond quickly and effectively, coordinating with medical and behavioral health teams. • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed logs of security activities, incidents, and reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and organizational requirements. • Compliance with Health Protocols: Ensure personal vaccination and inoculation status are current as per facility and regulatory guidelines. Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including wearing appropriate protective gear as required. Requirements: • Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field, preferably in a healthcare or mental health environment. Training or experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques is highly preferred. • Mental Health Awareness: Ability to work effectively in a mental health environment, showing empathy and understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals with behavioral health needs. • Physical Requirements: Ability to assist in patient restraint when necessary. Must be able to stand, walk, and respond to emergencies swiftly. • Vaccination & Health Compliance: Must have up-to-date vaccinations and inoculations, including but not limited to the flu vaccine, TB test, and any other vaccines required by facility policy or state law. • Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification is preferred. Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training is a plus. • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with a variety of individuals, including patients, staff, and visitors, in a professional and compassionate manner. • Other: Must pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment. Preferred Qualifications: • Training in conflict resolution and physical restraint techniques. • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
