Job Description
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is seeing a Healthy Iowans Steering Committee Coordinator as a key member of the Performance team. If you are highly motivated and thrive on collaborating with others, we want you on our team! This role is charged with coordinating our State Healthy Assessment and State Health Improvement (SHA&SHIP)'s Steering Committee and workgroups to set the agenda for solving the top health issues facing Iowans.
Responsibilities include:
This position will work within the Healthy Iowans team and interact across HHS and with outside partners as part of the SHA&SHIP process. Strong written and oral communication skills are critical for this role.
What You'll Do:
This position will also assist with the coordination and technical assistance to HHS advisory groups, state agencies, state community planning groups, and other organizations in implementing the state health needs assessment and improvement plan (SHA&SHIP), also known as Healthy Iowans.
- Lead the planning and coordinator of the steering committee and workgroups, including arranging meeting logistics, developing agendas and facilitating meetings.
- Develop and organize input from stakeholders and communities to inform the SHA&SHIP.
- Build relationships with partners to engage their participation and support in the SHA&SHIP.
- Provide training to internal HHS staff and external partners on the SHA&SHIP.
- Collaborate with the Healthy Iowans team and partners to develop system-level strategies for prioritizing community health issues and implementing community health improvement activities.
- Partner closely with the HHS Divisions to ensure the SHA&SHIP are strongly connected with the community health assessments and community health improvement plans administered by the service systems (e.g. local public health, Behavioral Health administration service organizations, area agencies on aging).
- Raise awareness of Healthy Iowans by facilitating conversations with internal and external partners and promoting continuous engagement in the SHA & SHIP process.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in nursing, a human services or health-oriented field, or education, or nutritionandthree years of professional experience in these areas;
OR
Masters degree in nursing, public health or science, a human services or health-oriented field, or education, may be substituted for one year of the required experience;
OR
certification as a paramedic and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience as a paramedic;
OR
an equivalent or combination of the required education and experience, totaling seven years, will be qualifying.
