**REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:**
High school or equivalent. Must be able to successfully complete the following training requirements: Automated hearing screening, Infection control, universal precautions, and CPR. 60 hrs of college credit preferred, health-care experience preferred
Good computer skills, including data entry; basic verbal skills; good interpersonal skills; able to use automated optoacoustic emissiom and auditory brainstem response screening equipment.
**JOB SUMMARY:**
Performs newborn hearing screenings using automated screening equipment. Assists junior staff as needed.
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:**
+ Prepares equipment for testing, including daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks
+ Performs automated hearing screenings.
+ Obtains, imports, and/or enters patient demographic information into screening equipment/database.
+ Downloads screening results from hearing screening device into database.
+ Charts screening results in electronic medical records
+ Arranges and coordinates follow-up for outpatient screening appointments
+ Participates in preparation of the monthly screener schedules
+ Prepares screening result letters; provides written and verbal results to parents/caregivers
+ Performs daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment.
+ Maintains patient’s privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
+ Stays abreast of new/improved techniques within the scope of responsibility.
+ Performs related duties as required.
