Heart & Vascular Inpatient Director - Mainland Campus - Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

The Inpatient Director, Heart & Vascular Program supports the service line leadership with the administrative, financial, and personnel management for all cardiovascular service departments. The Director assists in the analysis of the departments and participates in the development of strategies to maximize patient revenue, minimize costs, and improve efficiencies. In collaboration with Cardiovascular Services staff, the Director introduces, implements, and monitors process improvements and identifies best practice operational and financial opportunities. Must have the expertise to understand the service line clinical product needs/processes and their related expenses while planning associated revenue. This position works collaboratively with Cardiovascular Services leadership to make sound business decisions.

In conjunction with the AVP of Heart and Vascular, Inpatient, the Director develops reporting standards and assists in the distribution and analysis of monthly financial and operational reports. The position is responsible for the ongoing review and analysis of volume trends, assessment of accurate charging mechanisms, and projected revenue. This position assists in managing and overseeing all data shared with clinical staff to promote organizational change that aims to improve utilization, reduce expenses, and increase the quality of care delivery.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Master's degree in Business Administration, Masters or Doctoral Degree in Nursing Practice required or in pursuit of (obtained within 2 years of hire).

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: BLS & ACLS certification required

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years combined work experience within a healthcare setting with direct involvement in clinical and business operations. Strong financial and analytic skills. Experience within Surgical Services and/or Cardiovascular services is preferred. Proficiency in Clinical and Financial Applications is preferred at the time of hire; incumbents within the position will be trained appropriately, and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from the date of hire.

 

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the competencies established on this position's Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Advanced written and verbal communication is necessary. Ability to organize and communicate information effectively with staff, peers, surgeons, and senior leadership. Possesses skills to multitask and prioritize work appropriately. Display ability to effectively use Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must be organized and possess advanced time management skills to succeed in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

There is a potential for exposure to the hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and injury. This position requires long periods of reading, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and crouching a majority of the workday. It also requires eye and hearing strain at times. The position works with such equipment as a computer terminal, fax machine, printer, and copier.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Heart and Vascular, Inpatient.
