Job Title: Heat Exchanger Engineer
Job Description

This position is responsible for heat exchange equipment for gas turbine projects, working with outside vendors to fabricate specified equipment and ensuring that the supplied equipment meets code, contract, and schedule requirements.

ResponsibilitiesSpecifically responsible for Heat Exchangers, including the Turbine Cooling Air Cooler, ECA Cooler, Fuel Gas Heater, and FG Dew Point Heater.Review customer contract requirements and identify deviations to in-house design requirements.Prepare technical purchase specifications by translating contract and code requirements.Understand P&IDs and piping design philosophies.Interpret P&IDs and other technical material to develop system interface requirements.Prepare supporting calculations needed to ensure proper sizing of equipment.Prepare inquiry and purchase specifications for mechanical equipment.Provide technical recommendations of vendors.Review vendor designs to ensure compliance with code, contract, and internal requirements.Ensure arrangement and foundation interface information meets requirements.Technically qualify vendors.Specify and analyze test results.Develop standard drawings and specifications.Develop design improvements.Adhere to schedules for engineering deliverables.Meet regularly with vendors to ensure all technical and schedule requirements are being met.Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.Interpret and integrate design requirements from the parent company.Establish processes and procedures to ensure effective and optimized use of resources while providing high-quality design packages.Develop concepts to reduce system costs.Ensure that code requirements are correctly defined and incorporated into the system design and reflected as vendor requirements.Provide regular status updates to management.Essential SkillsExperience with B31.1 and ASME codes.Experience reviewing customer contract requirements and identifying deviations to in-house design requirements.Experience preparing technical purchase specifications by translating contract and code requirements.Understanding of P&IDs and piping design philosophies.Mechanical design experience.Proficiency with AutoCAD.Experience in the oil and gas industry.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering required. Master's is desirable.Minimum ten (10) years of technical experience required.Experience with heat exchangers/vessels (Shell and Tube, and Air Cooled Exchangers).Experience using heat transfer equipment design software such as HTRI.Manufacturing and/or field troubleshooting experience is desired.Experience with power plants, Japan-related, or other international business is a plus.Work Environment

The Lake Mary office is the North American headquarters for Plant Engineering. This is a multi-disciplinary office which includes Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Controls, and Project Management. The office has roughly 100+ personnel.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $145000.00
