General Summary

Diagnose, adjust, repair and overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such as cranes, bulldozers, graders and pavers used in construction and surface mining in either a shop setting or on a construction project.

$17-$30/hour

Essential Job Accountabilities

Maintain shop maintenance supplies, shop and tools.Maintain and repair heavy equipment, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical machinery and Systems to OEM standards.Requires specialized knowledge attained through experience and education.Responsible for individual productivity and quality of work.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues efficiently.In depth knowledge of engine, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain trouble shooting.Meets the Granite Construction Company standard of Qualified Mechanic. Perform routine/preventative maintenance to Granite StandardsPerform safety and mechanical inspections of the equipment.

 

Education

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience

Certification

Associate's degree or professional certification

Work Experience

5+ years of related experience, proficiency with tools and techniques.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.

Requires specialized knowledge attained through experience and education.

Responsible for individual productivity and quality of work.

Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

Understanding of computer testing technologies.

Ability to lift heavy machinery.
