General Summary

General Summary
This position is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and tools on Granite Industrial job sites and supporting the job functions in any other way as directed by the Equipment Manager, Job Superintendents, and General Superintendent.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Conduct detailed inspections of equipment on the job sites to identify maintenance and repair items. Work closely with the foremen and craft operators to identify items that need maintenance or repair.Maintain equipment on the job sites by preforming preventative maintenance, lubrication, fueling, cleaning, and servicing of equipment.Observe and measure machine components to monitor for excessive wear.Proactively service equipment as required and in coordination with job operations to maximize equipment uptime.Repair equipment as needed.Communicate and work with equipment vendors for ordering and installing repair parts.Complete documentation to include repair summaries and take 5s, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), etc.Communicate with the Equipment Manager and Job Superintendents on a daily basis the status of repairs, tasks for the day, and issues with equipment.On an as needed basis as directed by the job superintendent, operate equipment to support job operations.Travel from one job to another and observe CMV DOT on road regulations.

Education

High School Diploma

Work Experience

Four to six years of heavy equipment mechanic experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively.Ability to be responsive to calls, texts, and emails.Ability to remain flexible to ever changing jobsite conditions and operations.Ability to prioritize and follow through on a variety of tasks.Ability to learn and take direction.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to operate a 10,000 lb truck mounted crane.Knowledge of construction equipment and the skills necessary to inspect, maintain and repair heavy equipment.Knowledge of construction jobs.Knowledge of DOT driving requirementsKnowledge and skill to safely and effectively operate a mechanic crane truck.

The physical demands of this job are classified as medium-heavy as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor criteria.  It is important that the employee is physically able to perform this job safely.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, balance, climb, crawl under, push and pull while in an outdoor environment that is subject to weather conditions.  The employee must be able to lift with two hands from the floor to the waist up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.  The employee will be working around large construction equipment and dynamic field operations and must be aware and safety conscience at all times.
