**Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic**
**Job Description**
Diagnose, service, and repair various systems found on heavy equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, transmissions, computer-controlled automatic transmissions, and pneumatic systems. Troubleshoot malfunctions in equipment and perform necessary repairs. Repair and service track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, hand bars, track adjusters, hydraulic systems, reversers, final drives, brake bands, steering clutches, and hydrostatic transmissions. Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain speed tandem drive axles with air or electric shift, hydrostatic driven, heavy-duty multi-axle suspensions. Tune diesel engines, service valves, fuel filters, and turbochargers, pressure check fuel filters, adjust injector heights, fuel racks, governors, etc. Diagnose problems, disassemble units, repair or replace parts, and reassemble units in the cooling, drive, brake, electrical, steering, heating, and air conditioning, hydraulic, and air systems. Overhaul engines, replace engines, and rebuild components. Maintain a clean, organized, and functional work area, and assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques when necessary. Perform related work as assigned.
**Responsibilities**
+ Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic control systems on heavy equipment.
+ Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
+ Service and repair track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, hand bars, track adjusters, hydraulic systems, and more.
+ Maintain and repair speed tandem drive axles with air or electric shift and hydrostatic driven systems.
+ Tune diesel engines, service valves, fuel filters, and turbochargers.
+ Diagnose and repair issues in cooling, drive, brake, electrical, steering, heating, air conditioning, hydraulic, and air systems.
+ Overhaul and replace engines, and rebuild components.
+ Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean and organized.
+ Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques.
+ Perform related work as assigned.
**Essential Skills**
+ Proven mechanic experience working on heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, paving machines, backhoes, bulldozers, dump trucks, trenchers, compactors, graders, telehandlers, backhoe loaders, tower cranes, feller bunchers, dragline excavators, wheel tractor scrapers, pile driving machines, and concrete pumps.
+ Experience in mechanical, diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
+ Ability to troubleshoot and repair independently.
+ Experience with forklift maintenance and repair.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience as a shop mechanic or mobile mechanic.
+ Experience with hydraulic systems and construction equipment.

**Work Environment**
This role may require initial training in the shop for a few weeks before transitioning to fieldwork. The work environment is non-temperature controlled.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of San Antonio, Texas.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $62400.00
