**Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic** **Job Description** We are urgently seeking experienced Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanics to replace retiring employees. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience working on forklifts, heavy equipment, and diesel engines. This individual will be responsible for the corrective and preventative maintenance of over 270 pieces of diesel engine equipment throughout the yard. **Responsibilities** + Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on over 270 pieces of diesel engine equipment. + Troubleshoot and repair issues on pickup trucks, cranes, forklifts, heavy machinery, and yard hustlers. + Work primarily on forklifts, which make up 80% of the equipment, ranging in size and type. + Incorporate work order and preventative maintenance systems on a weekly basis. + Start with PM services and progressively handle more complex repairs. + Ensure all hydraulic and electronic systems are functioning properly. + Fuel equipment and manage breakdowns such as blown drive shafts. **Essential Skills** + 5+ years of experience in diesel/heavy duty equipment repair. + Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines. + Experience with hydraulics and electronics in heavy equipment. + Previous experience working on pickup trucks, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery. + Ability to obtain a TWIC card within the first few weeks of assignment. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Must have own tools. + Experience with brands like Volvos, Kubota, Detroit, and Caterpillar. + Union benefits after contract period with healthcare coverage during transition. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy union benefits with the International Longshoreman's Association, including annual increases and healthcare coverage. The shop operates Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM, with some overtime based on seniority. The team currently has 5 members, including the shop boss. The location is at the Tioga Marine Terminal (PhilaPort) with 9 total bays. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, Delaware. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
