Job Description
Heavy Equipment Mechanics are responsible for repairing, maintaining, and diagnosing primarily heavy equipment related to the unloading, loading, transfer, and storage of bulk materials.
ResponsibilitiesDismantle and repair heavy equipment including diesel and gas engines, electric motors and generators, hydraulic and pneumatic attachments, cable handling devices, control systems, fuel and brake systems, etc.Diagnose problems and make repairs to heavy equipment, cranes, loaders, dozers, etc.Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical engines, vehicles, and equipment used in bulk handling operations.Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on equipment and make adjustments.Operate a variety of tools/equipment such as cutting torch, welder, forklift, hand tools, power tools (impact wrench, drills, etc.), and electric meters.Essential SkillsHeavy equipment repairForklift repairMaintenance technicianElectrical and mechanical troubleshootingDiesel engine maintenancePreventive maintenanceHydraulics and pneumatics repairBlueprint readingExperience with Caterpillar and construction equipmentAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with cable handling devices and control systemsAbility to diagnose and repair fuel and brake systemsProficiency in using hand tools and power toolsSkill in operating cutting torch, welder, and electric metersWork Environment
This position is based in a coal terminal, where the environment and equipment are typically dirty.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Sulphur, Louisiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
