Job Description
Heavy Equipment Mechanics are responsible for repairing, maintaining, and diagnosing heavy equipment used for the unloading, loading, transfer, and storage of bulk materials. This position requires availability for overtime and call-outs when needed.
ResponsibilitiesDismantle and repair heavy equipment including diesel and gas engines, electric motors and generators, hydraulic and pneumatic attachments, cable handling devices, control systems, fuel and brake systems, and more.Diagnose problems and make repairs to heavy equipment such as cranes, loaders, and dozers.Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical engines, vehicles, and equipment used in bulk handling operations.Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on equipment and make necessary adjustments.Operate a variety of tools and equipment including cutting torch, welder, forklift, hand tools, power tools (impact wrench, drills, etc.), and electric meters.Essential SkillsExperience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.Proficiency in forklift repair.Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of diesel engines and preventive maintenance.Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.Ability to read and interpret blueprints.Experience with construction equipment such as Caterpillar.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in dismantling and repairing diesel and gas engines, electric motors, and generators.Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic attachments.Experience with cable handling devices, control systems, fuel, and brake systems.Proficient in operating a variety of tools and equipment.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
This position operates in a coal terminal, which is a dirty environment with heavy equipment. The maintenance department works Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the requirement to be available for overtime and call-outs as needed.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
