The incumbent will organize routes and maintain sidewalks, bike paths, shared-use paths, and curbing in Lee County by applying herbicides to eliminate vegetation growth. Duties and Responsibilities + Operate and haul maintenance equipment, including trucks, UTVs, ATVs, and herbicide spray equipment. + Utilize hand and power tools to manage vegetation in right-of-ways. + Report deficiencies in sidewalks, curbing, bike paths, and shared-use paths for repair. + Coordinate daily work plans with the Crew Supervisor. + Document and enter daily work into the Cartegraph System. + Work may be performed independently or as part of a crew, with occasional assistance to other crews and departments. + May also need to substitute for the Crew Supervisor by documenting daily activities and directing crews. + Operate equipment such as Gradalls, loaders, mini-excavators, dump trucks, and various mowing tractors as needed. + Perform other job duties as assigned. Education, Experience, Licensing Minimum Requirements + Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED equivalent and three years of heavy equipment operation or closely related experience. + This is a safety-sensitive position which is subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as provided in DOT regulation 49CFR-Parts 40 and/or 382. Licenses + Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with airbrake and acceptable driving record is required. Supplemental Information + Knowledgeable in MOT traffic regulations and capable of setting up safe work zones. + Extensive experience operating heavy equipment. + Knowledge of traffic regulations and construction equipment safety. + Set up a safe work zone and learn specialized maintenance skills. + Good communication skills; follow oral instructions and complete forms and paperwork. + Able to read, write, and hear within a normal range. + Interact with the public professionally. + Able to work flexible hours in emergencies.
