General Summary

Operates tractor equipped with concave blade attached across front to gouge out, level, and distribute earth and to push trees and rocks from land preparatory to constructing roads and buildings.

Essential Job Accountabilities

Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.

Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.

Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.

Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.

Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.

Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade.

May grease, oil, and repair tractor. 

Education

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience

Certification

Proper certification required

Completion of an apprenticeship program required.

Work Experience

Appropriate training and experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Workers should be able to:

Read engineering drawing

Practice good safety habits

Work in dusty or dirty surroundings

Follow instructions and meet set standards

Judge distances and slopes accurately

Make decisions based on verifiable standards.

Physically, workers must be able to:

Stoop, bend, and crouch

Use hands, arms, and legs fully

See well (either naturally or with correction)

Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Projects with joint-venture agreements (JVs), benefits will be governed by those agreements. For positions covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBAs), the benefits will be governed by the applicable CBA.
