Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description

We are looking to hire heavy equipment operators to work on solar site construction projects. The ideal candidate can operate an excavator and has experience using GPS equipment to help track progress and location. This job will require candidates to get out of the equipment and assist with labor work on site. Sites will range from 3 acres up to over 20 acres. This is a travel position, and candidates will receive per diem if they are traveling with the company.

ResponsibilitiesOperate a Lull / Telehandler and excavator for roadway, solar, or commercial site construction.Use GPS to track the location of equipment.Assist with labor work on site.Report to the site supervisor before 7:00 am, receive daily tasks, and perform safety pre-checks of the equipment.Work independently and safely.Dig trenches, backfill, break concrete or rock, and level ground.Pour concrete, clear sites, and build foundations.Control the tractor and operate the shovel or blade on the front of the vehicle.Move materials like dirt, rocks, and debris and level the ground.Understand how the surface you're working on could affect your duties.Perform routine inspections, repairs, and adjustments to equipment.Ensure the work site is safe by conducting pre-operational checks and adhering to strict safety protocols.Consult with other operators and foremen to ensure projects are completed efficiently.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 years of experience operating an excavator.Experience in site construction, land clearing, and road construction.Proficiency in using GPS for equipment tracking.Ability to assist with labor work on site.Willingness to travel within the Northeast and work overtime.OSHA 10 certification.Additional Skills & QualificationsMechanical and technological aptitude.Good hand-eye coordination.Effective communication skills.Ability to work in a team and pay attention to detail.Capability to inspect and maintain machinery, understand operating instructions, and follow safety protocols.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work is 100% outdoors, including in old farmland, cleared land, inactive landfills, and open fields. Work continues in non-hazardous weather, including rain, snow, cold, heat, and wind. Shifts are Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday work, and candidates must be willing to work overtime past 3:30 pm. Crew sizes range from 1-2 up to 10, and candidates report to a foreman or project superintendent. Per diem is $125 per worked day for candidates electing to housing.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00
