Job Description
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, including loaders and excavators, in a production and quarry environment. Your tasks will include loading 200 trucks per shift, ensuring they are loaded at the correct weight per contract, moving material efficiently around the yard, and performing regular safety inspections of equipment.
ResponsibilitiesOperate Heavy Equipment including Loaders and Excavators in a production, quarry environment.Load 200 trucks per shift and ensure they are loaded at the correct weight per contract.Move material around the yard in an efficient manner.Perform regular safety inspections of equipment.Essential Skills5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment (backhoes, dozers, cranes, loaders, trucks, etc.).Experience performing basic maintenance and safety inspections on machinery.Ability to operate equipment in a fast-paced environment.Strong knowledge of individual equipment design and safety requirements.High level of safety consciousness and understanding the necessity of equipment safety.Ability to communicate equipment issues and direct others on the job.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in construction, heavy equipment operation, skid steer, general labor, front end loader, civil construction.Ability to handle and operate a variety of heavy equipment such as dozers, trenchers, cranes, backhoes.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment is very industrial, with the majority of the facility being outside in the yard, surrounded by heavy machinery, loud noises, dirt, and dust. The main office consists of a few bungalows. The company is located in East Oakland and has been around for about six years, employing 20-25 employees on site. Most team members work as Operators or Mechanics.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
