About the role

The Waste Processing Technician is an entry-level position within the Environmental Solutions division of Covanta.  The WPT is responsible for the collection and processing of waste material from their client’s facility.  The WPT takes their direction from the Lead Waste Processing Tech or Supervisor when applicable.  The WPT will utilize various forms of machinery to perform their everyday tasks, including forklifts, compactors, and balers.  This position will handle various types of waste during their daily routine and is expected to be safety conscious and understand the correct PPE to utilize during their tasks. 

Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment such as front end loaders, fork trucks, balers, compactors, etc.
Process waste materials into like commodities or in accordance with vendor specifications
General housekeeping. Sweeping, washing and other maintenance of the area(s) Covanta is responsible for
Loading/Unloading of van trailers and/or flat beds
Performs labor to manipulate waste into bins

Shift:

Monday through Friday 7am to 4pm.

Qualifications/Skills 

Waste or shipping/receiving industry experience preferred HS diploma or GED preferred; Covanta offers GED Works – a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED.Front end loader experienceGood written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail and time management skillsAbility to be punctual for your assigned start time

Physical Demands:

Candidate must have the ability to work in indoor/outdoor and all climates/elementsMust be able to lift, push, pull 50 lbsMust be able to sit and stand for extended periodsMust be able to wear a full face respirator as needed.
