​Powderbird, founded in 1973, is a leader in helicopter skiing, offering premier single-day and multi-day heli-skiing and lodging packages. Based at Snowbird Resort in Utah, we are the only permitted helicopter ski outfitter in the state. Our heli-skiing and riding adventures depart daily from our heliport located slopeside at Snowbird, and we also offer guided expeditions at destinations around the world, including the Arctic mountains of Greenland.

Our operations include a fleet of high-performance aircraft and a team of experienced guides dedicated to providing exceptional mountain experiences. When weather conditions limit helicopter access, we offer alternative full-day guided skiing at Snowbird, complete with lift line access and amenities at The Cliff Lodge. Powderbird’s unique location in the Wasatch Mountains, just 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport, makes it an ideal place to work for those passionate about skiing and the outdoors.

Job Summary:

Powderbird is seeking a full-time seasonal Guide. This position is responsible for leading groups of helicopter skiers under supervision of a lead guide in the backcountry. Guides generally have the capability to select runs, LZs, and PZs within a selected area approved by the lead guide for that date and time-frame while supporting superior customer service at all levels.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages a group of selected helicopter skiers, while selecting appropriate terrain, LZs, and PZs ensuring safety and good coordination with other groups in the field is upheld.

Contribute at all levels of AM/PM workflow and collaboration.

Support high level customer service and other Powderbird products.

Leads groups of helicopter skiers in the field.

Maintain current knowledge of rescue equipment, techniques and emergency response equipment in accordance to industry standards.

Manage group of clients in the backcountry while providing superior custom service.

Attend pre-season training and rescue drills.

Other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills, and experience:

High school degree or GED equivalent required

Valid state issued driver's license

Thorough understanding of base operations and ground support

Thorough understanding of aviation operations

Meets or exceeds HSUS level 2 guide standards

In depth training and understanding of Powderbird's Emergency Response Plan and Operations Plan.

Demonstrates high level guiding, interpersonal and operation communication/leadership skills.
