Production Assistant

 

Job Summary:

 

This entry-level position supports machine operators in processing materials and ensuring smooth production operations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist operators with coil loading, packaging, and other production tasks as needed. Construct pallets and shipping containers using hand and power tools. Band and palletize metal coils or sheets, ensuring proper tagging and labeling of finished products. Perform quality checks to confirm correct lengths, widths, and weights using appropriate tools. Identify and report any operational issues or defective materials. Transport parts, equipment, and materials as needed. Read and interpret production orders accurately. Wrap and unwrap materials for processing. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas. Operate a sit-down forklift (training provided). Meet production goals while adhering to all safety regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

Must be 18 years or older. Ability to safely operate a forklift (training and certification provided). Strong comprehension skills for reading documents, interpreting information, and drawing conclusions. Basic math, reading, and writing proficiency. Effective communication, organization, and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Equipment Used:

Ruler, measuring tape, calipers, forklift (training provided), hand tools, power tools.

Working Conditions:

Production facility environment with fluctuating temperatures and elevated noise levels. Standard work schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week (1st shift). Flexibility for overtime and weekend hours as needed.
