Are you in? **Primary Purpose** Helper Cable Splicer Mechanic **Primary Duties** Under the supervision of crew lead or other qualified employee assist with the installation, removal, or repair of equipment associated to the Underground transmission system and associated equipment. This job requires employees to pass progression testing and meet up or out provisions. Duties include, but are not limited to: + Sets up work protective equipment, safety tests manholes, opens manholes and performs related general housekeeping functions necessary to maintain safe work areas. Drives company vehicles. + Cleans, lubricates hand tools and operates and maintains various mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment as directed. May be required to use digging tools. + Secures, loads, delivers, unloads, assembles, places in position, and distributes tools, materials, supplies, and other equipment to higher classified employees as needed. Heats and prepares compound and solder for splicing. + Provide assistance as directed by higher classified employees. + Performs the less involved routine manual assignments in conjunction with assisting higher classified employees in the performance of their assigned duties. Observes all operations of higher classified employees. Perform directed assignments as required. **Job Scope** This job requires employees to pass progression testing and meet up or out provisions **Minimum Qualifications** + This job requires employees to pass progression testing and meet up or out provisions. + Ability to observe conditions, learn work methods and to follow verbal as well as written instructions. + Possess valid private motor vehicle operators license. + Ability to obtain/maintain Commercial Drivers License with HAZMAT endorsement within 6 months of hire. + Become familiar with Company safety regulations, accountable for taking an active part in safety, productivity, and general First-Aid methods. + Supports planned and unplanned Cost Center Work Activities e.g., Console Inspections/Maintenance, Environmental Spill Container Inspections, Housekeeping activities and ensures completion of work as assigned. + Employees in this classification are NERC qualified positions.
