Hematologist
Job Summary We are seeking a hematologist with specialized expertise in treating myeloid malignancies. The successful candidate will join a collaborative care team dedicated to excellence and will engage in clinical, research, administrative, and educational activities. As a hematologist, you will leverage your extensive experience to provide hemato-oncology consultations, patient care, teaching, and research with a focus on myeloid hematologic malignancies. This position will be part of the Surrey Hematology group, which consists of five hematologists who manage combined malignant myeloid practices at BC Cancer - Surrey and general hematology within Fraser Health, including call coverage for the Fraser Health region. The role includes a 0.5 FTE position through Fraser Health, complemented by a 0.5 FTE BCC-Cancer Hematology position. For more information on the BC Cancer role, please see the related job posting at PHSA. There is an option for either a short-term locum or a permanent position, based on the candidate’s preference. Candidates must have or be working towards Fellowship standing with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine, along with a Certificate of Special Competence in hematology or completed hematology residency training. Eligibility for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia and meeting BC Cancer’s Professional Advisory Committee credentialing requirements is required. Additionally, candidates should be eligible for a clinical appointment within the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and must hold or be eligible for a valid medical license in Canada to apply. Successful candidates will have: Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019). Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
