The University of Vermont Cancer Center and the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine in the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont seeks a full time, tenure track pathway faculty member at the Associate or Full Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Population Health, Public Health, Health Services Research or equivalent degree in related fields such as Epidemiology, Psychology, Sociology, or Data Science. Candidates with Medical Degrees who can demonstrate proficiency in rural health services research and policy may also be considered. Preference will be given to those with experience in cancer care delivery, rural population health or dissemination and implementation science.
This is a research focused position with at least some component of investigation centered on cancer in rural populations. Cancer focus may be related to cancer prevention, screening, cancer disparities or health care delivery. A major goal of the UVM Cancer Center is to work to eliminate health disparities in low-resource settings in Vermont, northern New York and beyond, through research, education and collaborative intervention. Candidates with knowledge and experience of dissemination and implementation science, community based participatory research methodologies or data science methods, as well as candidates with an interest in advancing health policy for rural populations, are of particular interest.
We seek a researcher with skills to help grow the science and extramural funding of cancer and chronic disease prevention. This position will interface with the program in Cancer Population Science in the UVM Cancer Center, the Center for Health Services Research in the Larner College of Medicine and the graduate and undergraduate programs in Public Health at the University of Vermont. There is an opportunity to participate in teaching activities and to work with learners at all levels. The position has an expectation for current or future extramural funding. A generous start-up package is available and will be based on the needs of an individual candidate’s research program.
The University of Vermont is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching, service and research, scholarship or creative arts. Applicants are required to submit a separate statement of advancing diversity and inclusive excellence. Please see the University’s statement on diversity: https://www.uvm.edu/diversity/inclusive-excellence-strategic-plan for more information.
