POSITION TITLE:  STAFF ACCOUNTANT II
REPORTS TO:  CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

General Summary of the Position:
Responsible for all activities necessary to administer and manage general accounting functions for Hemphill.

Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.Computes taxes owed and prepares monthly and quarterly tax records, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.Reconciles and balances bank accounts monthlyCreates general ledger and journal entriesReconciles and balance internal accountsSubstantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.Creates and maintains cost reportsCompletes trial balance reviewsReconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.Assists in fiscal year-end audit and annual tax preparation.Assists with AR, AP and payroll duties when needed.Provides accounting support to management as needed. 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to analyze information with attention to detailMust be able to communicate in a professional manner with internal and external personnel.Must be willing and able to protect confidential informationUnderstanding of generally accepted accounting principlesAbility to prioritize various assignments which may be in progress simultaneouslyAbility to work independently, as well as, collaboratively with other departmentsProficient in Microsoft Office and data entryAbility to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Required Education, Training and Experience:Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or a directly related field required;Five (5)+ years recent experience in accounting or finance. 
Work Environment:Regularly works in an inside office setting with minimal exposure to outside conditions.Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 20 pounds, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; sitting for long periods. Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.Noise level is generally quiet.
