Job Title: Herbicide Sprayer/Applicator
This position is responsible for operating application equipment to apply herbicides in the treatment of undesirable vegetation.

Benefits: Available Benefit options vary based on tenure, position, and work location. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Applies chemical herbicide and/or pesticide to right-of-way following brush removal, utilizing hose and spray nozzle from truck-mounted spray equipment, which includes tank, pump, hose reel, 200 feet of 5/8 inch hose, and/or utilizing a backpack in remote areas. Mixes herbicide in holding tank and fills injection tubes or assists spray crew Foreperson with mixing herbicide and filling tank. Services truck and equipment, maintaining them in neat, clean, and specified mechanical order. Drives truck to specified areas where trees require treatment. Unloads injector pack and tools from truck. Pulls wheeled cart (dolly) carrying injection unit into areas of brush to treat trees. Operates a small power drill, which weighs less than 10 pounds. Drills holes into base of trees, places a probe from the chemical injector tank into the hole, and switches on the injector to treat trees. Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older. Able to operate and service all required tools and equipment. Must be willing to join local union and pay union dues. Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Pre-Screen Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check. License & Certifications: Driver License Preferred, but not required. Travel Requirements: Must have transportation to and from the show-up location. Willing to travel, work, and stay out of state. CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): Sense of Touch, Seeing Distant, Climbing, Gripping, Seeing, Reaching, Range of Motion, Depth Perception SafetyDue to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
Works around hazardous equipment Works in all temperatures and weather and will be exposed to nature, i.e., irritating plants and biting or stinging insects, dust, etc. Works on unlevel ground About Us:As a full-service utility contractor Asplundh performs tree pruning and removals, right-of-way clearing and maintenance, vegetation management with herbicides and emergency storm work and logistical support. Asplundh is the parent company of Asplundh Infrastructure Group whose subsidiaries provide overhead and underground line construction, planning and design, meter reading and AMR/AMI installation, electrical testing, and street lighting/traffic signal services.
