Herndon ReStore Warehouse/Sales Associate
Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia (Habitat DC-NOVA) seeks a hardworking individual to join our team as a ReStore Warehouse/Sales Associate at our ReStore in Herndon, Virginia. The ReStore Warehouse/Sales Associate will be scheduled to work Monday – Friday and on some Saturdays.
The ReStore Warehouse/Sales Associate is an important member of the ReStore team helping to maximize sales while providing excellent customer service and donor assistance. This position requires a positive attitude, effective organization and time-management skills, and an affinity for working with diverse groups of people.

The hourly range for this position is $16 - $18/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Essential DutiesEngage donors and customers in a helpful and respectful manner with a positive attitudeDemonstrate understanding of policies and procedures for safety protocols for all staff assignments as well as the loading / unloading and organization of merchandiseGuarantee integrity and accuracy while processing customer financial transactions through the register following established procedures for each typeCommunicate with Donations Coordinator for screening for acceptability of donations when donors call or bring in donations following established guidelinesPerform daily cleaning and organization of all areas, in and around the ReStore, to be best displayed and free and clear of safety hazardsMaintain an effective working relationship with Habitat staff, volunteers and homeowners, as well as ReStore customers and donorsOversee volunteers as needed, making their experience meaningfulAnswer telephone and providing ReStore information, directions, meeting the caller’s needsOperate a forklift and scissor lift if neededParticipate in store meetings and training sessions as required by ReStore ManagerOther duties as assigned by ReStore Manager.

QualificationsExcellent customer service and communication skills when interacting with Habitat staff, volunteers and homeowners, and ReStore customers and donors in-person, by phone and in writing Knowledge and experience in retail sales (minimum 2 years required)Ability to spend majority of the day standing or moving about ReStore. Work may require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward positionsAbility to accurately operate a cash register and office equipment High school diploma or equivalentMust be 18 years of age or older (to meet our insurance requirements) Must be able to safely lift and position up to 50 poundsFamiliarity with and commitment to Habitat’s mission, methods, principles, and structure.Must be able to work some SaturdaysMust pass Criminal Background Check and Sexual Offender CheckMust be able to show proof of current and updated Covid-19 vaccination status and be willing to comply with all other CDC guidelines.
