Position Description
ERT is seeking an engineer with expertise in HF wave propagation to support research activities at the Air Force Research Lab. The primary responsibility includes modeling, testing, evaluation, and providing subject matter expertise in validating ionosphere impact applications. Specialized knowledge and experience in simulation, modeling, and analysis in ionosphere modeling and over-horizon radar technologies are required. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HF system design, including all aspects of system design particularly antenna modeling using NEC. This role will involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and advance HF propagation modeling for various applications.
Required Skills
Experience with NEC simulation tools and software. Expertise in HF propagation and over-horizon radar technologies. Proficiency in radar signal processing and algorithm development. Proficiency in understanding legacy application codebase and the ability to reverse-engineering codebase into algorithm baseline Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a background investigation are required to obtain a SECRET clearance to enter the government facility.Desired
Familiarity with software-defined radio (SDR) technology Experience in defense or aerospace industry Experience with Method-Of-Moment electromagnetic wave simulation and the finite differencing methods in triangulations and mesh generationEducation
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent
Location
Work will be completed on-site at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM with the ability for a hybrid work schedule
Salary
The salary range for this role is $83,000 - 150,000/year. This range is a good faith estimate based on similar roles across the organization. ERT uses several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the position's scope and expected duties, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
