The 12-month Caterpillar Career Pathways program is designed to provide high school seniors with an opportunity to build their work skills in preparation for a long-term manufacturing trades career at Caterpillar. Selected students will participate in a multi-phase program that includes both technical and nontechnical skills needed for full-time employment in the welding & manufacturing trades field upon high school graduation.
 

Through classroom and hands-on learning, participants will become proficient in various welding & manufacturing techniques while receiving high school credit and earning a paid hourly wage from Caterpillar as follows:
 

Phase I: Summer internship
Phase II: Fall Semester Co-Op - For High School Credit
Phase III: Spring Semester Co-Op - For High School Credi

ASSEMBLY AND TEST SPECIALIST

Assembles, tests, diagnoses malfunctions and performs adjustment and repair of prime products and major units such as powershift and marine transmissions, winches, fuel injection systems, etc., which have been found defective by test and inspection. Inspects units and/or assemblies as necessary to determine malfunctions. Assembles, dynamometer tests and repairs torque converters. Assembles final drives, pipelayer draw works, direct drive transmissions and units required for special attachments or parts usage. Performs assembly work in sub-assembly areas directly associated with prime product assembly lines. May operate remote radio controlled crane or specially equipped vehicles to transport prime products such as wheel loaders, scrapers, motor graders, etc.
