High Voltage Vehicle Systems Ongoing Product Development Engineer

In this position…

This On-Going Product Development (OPD) quality engineering role is focused on identifying and root-causing emerging EV & Hybrid high-voltage powertrain quality issues at a vehicle level, using cloud diagnostic data, reports from dealership technicians & field engineers, and engineering ingenuity. Once root cause has been drilled down to a single HV component, strong communication skills will be needed to summarize the findings & hand off to the responsible team. Daily job responsibilities include review & response to GCQIS reports (dealership requests for help), review & approval of incoming HV battery orders, monitoring & actioning quality tickets & issues from various Ford systems, and supporting component OPD teams w/ vehicle-level analysis.

You'll have…

B.S. in Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical Basic understanding of EV/Hybrid HV systems & functionFamiliarity with multimeters, oscilloscopes, current/voltage probes, and instrumentation in generalHands-on experience with automative troubleshooting & repairsDo-It-Yourself attitude - will need to have confidence fabricating wire harnesses & instrumentation as neededProficiency w/ Microsoft Powerpoint & ExcelAbility to work effectively with various functions of a vehicle programProactive, self-motivated, and attention to detailStrong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, presentation, and written communication skillsStrong leadership skills, able to effectively interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders

Even better, you may have…

M.S. in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringHands-on experience with vehicle diagnostic data gathering & troubleshooting (CAN data, DIDs, etc)Proficiency w/ big data manipulation tools like Alteryx or PythonHV Battery safety experience

What you'll do…

Recognize & action emerging quality issues surfaced by cloud DTC tickets, dealership reports, or warranty claims.Root cause to causal component using big data, collaboration with subject matter experts, & vehicle recreation testing.Review & categorize GCQIS reports daily (dealer requests for help) & provide assistance as needed.Review & approve/deny HV battery orders daily (if denied, also provide diagnostic direction to dealership).Cultivate & share broad knowledge of vehicle powertrain systems, particularly HV hardware, software, & inter-module communication.Gain expertise in vehicle diagnostics & data gathering, both in-vehicle (via CAN data collection) and through the cloud.
