A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to communicate how cloud technologies can help tackle higher education’s most pressing operational and strategic challenges. The ideal candidate will have an established history of leading cloud transformation, and a clear track-record of delivering results. The ability to connect AWS technology solutions to customer needs is critical to an Advisor in the Higher Education Vertical; you should also have a demonstrated ability to help complex organizations identify and prioritize appropriate projects to drive forward their strategy in collaboration with AWS and our partners.
Key job responsibilities
You will serve as the direct Executive Business Development owner of a select number of higher education institutions, and support AWS Account Executives to identify and advance opportunities within these target accounts by working in partnership with the account teams, solutions architects, strategic business development executives, and partner managers.
* Serve as a highly credible expert on using cloud technologies to support innovation in higher education, with a focus on student experience, data strategy, and community engagement in addition to infrastructure modernization
* Support AWS Account teams in identifying, developing, and winning business with executive leadership teams in a select number of target higher education institutions
* Support strategic business development managers in gathering, distilling, and responding to customer sentiment and needs across the higher education market
* Provide thought leadership through events, white papers, blogs, and social media to capture customer mind-share in higher education
* ~40% travel to customer sites, partner engagements, and/or conferences

The U.S. Higher Education Vertical team is a team of industry-experienced subject matter experts who care deeply about impacting the missions of teaching, research, and community engagement through the implementation of AWS technologies and solutions. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
- 5+ years of executive leadership in higher education institutions
- Experience and success in building a cultivating relationships with higher education leaders, with a focus on the development and execution of sales contracts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements
- MBA or advanced degree in a higher education administration or leadership field
- Knowledge of cloud technologies, with experience in driving cloud transformations in higher education and/or adjacent industries
- Demonstrated experience working in a consultative role, and/or supporting field sales teams to advance business in higher education

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
