Higher Education Sales Specialist

Reporting to Bloomsbury’s Higher Education Sales Manager, the role of Higher Education Sales Specialist is responsible for achieving textbook sales targets in the U.S., building and maintaining a robust pipeline of sales opportunities, tenaciously pursuing leads, and delivering on a range of KPIs, chief among these a high rate of adoptions won. This role will also analyze sales data to identify growth areas and build relationships with key decision makers, including instructors, campus bookstore staff, and institutional administration. They will effectively position Bloomsbury textbooks as the best choice for instructors, building the Bloomsbury brand through a deep understanding of the textbook market and its competitive landscape.

Key goals include

Achieve aggressive sales targets and Increase YOY revenue and adoption rates for textbooks within the defined sales territory Develop and maintain a sales pipeline of qualified leads and opportunities, tracking progress and follow-up activities in Salesforce Identify key decision makers, prospect new opportunities, and close adoptions Develop relationships with academic faculty by assessing their teaching challenges and demonstrating how Bloomsbury educational materials can provide solutions that optimize educational outcomes Conduct campus visits during the regular academic year with the aim of consulting between 10 and 15 professors on each allocated campus day Engage with instructors and bookstore managers on campus through cold calls and scheduled appointments; conduct virtual meetings with faculty during days not spent on campus Maintain and develop competitive knowledge and market awareness and feed back to the business on a regular basis Provide regular and timely communication to colleagues on trends, product performance, and competitive landscape Collaborate with colleagues on strategic plans for advancing priority sales opportunities Conduct and synthesize timely, thorough and objective sales analyses and deliver actionable plans based on resulting insight Represent company at trade association meetings and conferences as needed

Requirements

5+ years of sales experience or equivalent with a track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets Excellent communication, interpersonal, & emotional intelligence skills Competitive desire to exceed goals and grow territory Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong prospecting and networking abilities, with the ability to identify and cultivate relationships with potential adopters. Positive attitude and a self-driven closer Highly motivated and results-oriented Passion for sales and people Experience with Salesforce preferred but not required Willingness to travel Valid driver’s license Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

Location

All candidates must reside in the NY tri-state area and be able to commute to our NY headquarters on a hybrid-remote schedule. May consider fully remote for exceptional candidate.
