HIL and Support Manager

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will manage and lead a team of subject matter experts to design and assemble testbeds (Hardware in the Loop – HIL and Software in the Loop – SIL) to support the In-Space Systems Business Unit. These testbeds are implemented in rolling stages from concept architecture design through System Interface Flight HW verification meeting the highest technical standards. In addition, you will be interfacing with customers, systems engineering, subsystems and the vehicle test team to support TIM’s to coordinate critical I&T events. You will be responsible for the employee life cycle including performance management and career development, training and allocating engineering resources to program developments. You will be encouraged to mentor, both technically and professionally, less-experienced team members in systems engineering processes related to the testing of avionics components.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact spacecraft development at Blue Origin.

Qualifications:

Expertise in the design and/or development complex testing environments like Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), or Systems Integration Labs (SIL)

Experience leading development of special electronic test equipment

Experience with script generation

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment

Strong team leadership and people management skills

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

8+ years of experience in complex embedded systems development (software and hardware)

5+ years of experience supervising, guiding, and mentoring less-experienced engineers

B.S. in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Active Top Secret/SCI required.

Desired:

Personnel management experience leading >10 direct and indirect reports.

Experience with the development and execution of vehicle avionics verification on autonomous spaceflight systems

4+ years direct engagement with customers

Master's Degree (M.S.) or higher in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $136,620.00-$191,268.00

Other site ranges may differ
