Hilton Garden Inn - Bar Back


Position Summary


A Bar Back’s focus is on supporting the bar staff and ensuring they have everything they need to provide guests with an excellent service experience.  A Bar Back assists the Bartender with stock, cleanliness, equipment handling, and maintenance. The position will also involve taking and delivering room service beverage orders and providing exceptional customer service.


Responsibilities


Working as a team member:  this is a supportive role and the whole bar operation is dependent on the Bar Back carrying out duties efficiently and effectively

Responsible for setting, clearing, and cleaning tables and work area; must keep the work and guest areas neat, clean, and attractive at all times

Restocking the bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, juices, etc.  Making sure that everything is at the bar and that there are enough backups for the shift.  Always rotates the products.

Communicating effectively with other F&B department team members to ensure prompt and high-quality service

Checking the draught beers to make sure they are working and stocked.  If equipment is empty, the Bar Back must change the kegs.

Washing all glassware, tools, and bar equipment

Properly disposing of recycling, trash, and boxes

Making sure that the beer cooler is clean and organized

Following policies and procedures in accordance to the company, brand, and applicable state and local laws, including checking customers’ identification to ensure they meet age requirements

Maintaining a safe and secure bar environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; judging when customers have consumed too much alcohol; calling for alternate transportation and complying with all legal regulations

Regularly inspecting and cleaning equipment to ensure excellent working condition and sanitation; achieving or maintaining safety/health certifications for self and follow health and safety rules

Requirements

Prior Bar Back and/or food & beverage experience preferred

Customer-service oriented

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong initiative and work ethic

Punctual , reliable, and regular attendance

Strong organization skills and attention to detail

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Excellent multi-tasking skills
