Responsible for assembling and reviewing all inpatient, short stay surgery, rehab, and observation records for accuracy and completeness of documentation
Reports to: Market Director Health Information Management
Analyzes the medical record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.Drag Edit DeleteEnsures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.Drag Edit DeleteReviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate.Drag Edit DeleteResponsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.Drag Edit DeleteCompletes birth and fetal death certificates. Provides state with necessary birth information within state required timeframe, as needed.Drag Edit DeleteMust preform HIM Tech duties as assignedMinimum Education
High School Diploma or GED - Required
Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology - PreferredDrag Edit DeleteRequired Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Drag Edit DeleteRequired Skills
Licenses: RHIT or RHIA eligible and Preferred.Drag Edit DeleteMinimum Work Experience
6 months HIM/Medical Records experience - Preferred. Prior experience in an acute care setting desired.
