Wage Scale: $42.53-$60.42

Essential Job duties 

Develops and maintains educational content and materials, including manuals, presentations, and reference guides, to enhance understanding of documentation requirements while ensuring accuracy and alignment with current clinical and coding standards.   
Works alongside multidisciplinary teams to address specific documentation issues and reinforce the importance of accurate documentation in patient care and coding.   
 Facilitates process improvements necessary to capture needed documentation.   
Engages with and incorporates the Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) into the development and execution of provider documentation education programs.   
Remains current on ICD-10 coding updates, regulatory changes, and best practices in clinical documentation.   
 Regularly performs concurrent patient record reviews, collaborating with providers to ensure that documentation accurately reflects a patient’s severity of illness, risk of mortality, complexity of care, clinical conditions, and/or procedures and DRG assignments.   
Participates in the review of DRG and clinical validation denials and audit findings to identify trends and influence educational content, assisting in the appeals process when necessary.   
Assesses the effectiveness of educational initiatives and suggests improvements based on clinical documentation trends and challenges.   
Meets with clinical documentation specialists to review random cases with the goal of providing consistency and quality in the CDI program.   
Participates in retrospective coding and CDS reviews, auditing for accuracy and quality.   
Collaborates with leadership to foster a cohesive departmental dynamic and participates in improvement efforts.   
Provides ongoing reports to demonstrate the impact of the clinical documentation program and quality indicators.   
Participates in and drives organizational and departmental improvement efforts.   
Maintains a 20% on-site presence, cultivating and developing relationships with providers and staff to facilitate clinical documentation improvement opportunities
