HIM Document Capture Tech II

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Document Management Technician II position is responsible for a complete and accurate electronic medical record. The Technician understands the importance of the quality review process in ensuring the integrity and legality of the electronic medical record.
The Technician reviews scanned documents for overall image quality and accuracy of indices assigned during the document capture process according to the turnaround timeframes that have been defined. This position is responsible for the prioritization of the work to ensure that deadlines are met. This position demonstrates accountability for ensuring the timely availability of the electronic medical record for patient care.
This position also assists in the correction of identified issues and errors. The Technician understands that validation and indexing of the record directly impacts the integrity and legality of the electronic medical record. The Document Capture Technician II also performs the duties of at Document Management Tech I Job Description as needed.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: RHIT preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years of health information management experience in a hospital setting required. Great attention to detail and knowledge of the paper-based medical record required. Ability to utilize multiple computer applications and standard office equipment required. Proficiency in multiple computer applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then demonstrated skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. Must be able to apply good judgment and critical thinking skills in a variety of situations.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
This position requires near visual acuity, finger and hand dexterity and occasional light lifting up to 20 pounds. This position requires walking, bending, reaching and stooping when accessing files and supplies.
