Summary:
A HIM Specialist is required to Prep and maintain patient medical records for upcoming appointments as well as handle all Release of information.
Will also have to acquire all pertinent records from Non Virtua practices for patient’s upcoming appointment.
HIM Specialists are also responsible for answering all department phone calls and inbound faxes, as well as scanning in all documents that the department may receive.
Specialists will also have to be able to request records from outside offices and departments.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
Chart Prep for upcoming appointments
Release of Information to (Attorneys, Insurance Companies, Physicians’ offices
Scan incoming documents in Epic system
Answer phone calls for Department
Handle all inbound/outbound faxes
Request records from upcoming appointments from Non Virtua Facilities
Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience:
Knowledge of computer and programs such as (Microsoft Office, Outlook, ect.). Patient telecommunication Interaction.
Required Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Training / Certification / Licensure:
Medical background is recommended but not required.
Having a knowledge of medical terminology recommended but not required.
