SUMMARY OF JOB The Health Information Management (HIM) Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Health Information Management (HIM) Department. This role will ensure timely and accurate processing of medical records for discharged patients, and will manage the resolution of any discrepancies. The position collaborates with clinical, coding, and revenue cycle teams to minimize Discharged Not Final Billed (DNFB) days and to optimize revenue cycle performance. This position monitors the accuracy of the incomplete record database and administers the medical staff rules and regulations pertaining to record completion requirements to assure compliance with meeting DNV, Federal and State requirement for medical records. In addition, the HIM Supervisor provides training support for Health Information Management staff, monitoring work within area of responsibility, and assists with trouble-shooting system functionality, prepping, scanning and indexing issues. Assists HIM management with generating reports, data collection and compiling data to assure compliance with regulatory requirements, and handles management issues in the absence of the HIM Manager. There is an ongoing responsibility for ensuring that the values of Respect, Compassion, Justice, Hospitality, Holitisic Approach, Stewardship, and Collaboration are present in our interactions with one another and in the services we provide RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Coding (CPC, CCS) certification preferred. Two to five years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, health information management, or medical billing, with a focus on DNFB. Understanding of DNV and DOH rules and regulations and knowledge of medical terminology. Proven experience managing a team or leading process improvement initiatives. Demonstrated understanding of revenue cycle processes, including coding, billing, and claims management. Analytical skills to identify issues, troubleshoot problems, and recommend solutions. Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various departments and team members. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work with physicians and other healthcare providers by assuring timely and accurate access to medical records. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Access to patient medical information requires strict adherence to patient confidentiality.
