HIPAA Compliance Specialist
Description HIPAA Compliance Specialist (Contract) Location: Raleigh, NC (Remote Flexibility) We are seeking an experienced HIPAA Compliance Specialist to join our team on a contract basis. This role is vital to ensuring our organization maintains full compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare compliance, risk assessment, and auditing, with expertise in cloud-based applications and security practices. Key Responsibilities: + Conduct comprehensive HIPAA compliance assessments, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions. + Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance controls are effectively implemented. + Provide training and guidance on HIPAA requirements and industry best practices. + Develop and maintain detailed compliance documentation. + Monitor and manage risks associated with HIPAA regulations through audits and security assessments. + Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, audits, and corrective measures. Utilize expertise in privacy laws, healthcare compliance, and cloud technologies to uphold regulatory adherence. Requirements Qualifications & Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. + 5-7 years of experience in HIPAA compliance, risk assessment, or healthcare regulatory roles. + In-depth knowledge of HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules. + Proven experience conducting HIPAA audits and risk assessments. + Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail. + Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping for compliance tracking. + Experience working with cloud-based applications and security best practices. + Familiarity with healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks. + Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and ability to implement corrective actions. + Strong ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams to promote a culture of compliance. Preferred Skills: + Experience with ‘About Time’ software (desirable). + Knowledge of HealthCare.gov policies and procedures. + Understanding of health insurance regulations and billing processes. + Security awareness and ability to implement best practices in data protection.
