Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Phlebotomist who is bilingual in Spanish and English. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience, be proficient with straight needles, and be reliable and punctual with strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data and decontamination, and update patient information.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport.
+ Store specimen samples according to required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimens during transport.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Proficiency with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one.
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Work Environment
The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
