Job Description

The Clinical & Forensic Toxicology Technician performs immunoassay screening as well as confirmatory and targeted screening analyses. Confirmatory testing is performed on both gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) platforms. The role involves utilizing solid phase extraction (SPE), supported liquid extraction (SLE), liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), and dilute-and-shoot for sample preparation. Additional sample preparations may involve protein crash or hydrolysis pre-treatments depending on the analytes in question. Targeted screening assays are dilute-and-shoot assays running on LC-MS/MS platforms with high resolution accurate mass (HRAM) analyzers.

ResponsibilitiesPerform immunoassay screeningConduct confirmatory and targeted screening analysesUtilize GC-MS and LC-MS/MS platforms for confirmatory testingPrepare samples using SPE, SLE, LLE, and dilute-and-shoot techniquesConduct protein crash or hydrolysis pre-treatments for specific analytesRun targeted screening assays on LC-MS/MS platforms with HRAM analyzersTest for drugs of abuse, including illegal and legal substancesPerform Chain of Custody testingHandle matrices including urine, meconium, oral fluids, serum, and whole bloodWork primarily on 1st and 2nd shifts, with 3rd shift ensuring instruments run overnightEssential SkillsBachelor's degree in chemistry or a human biological science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, Marine Biology, Neuroscience)Experience in laboratory and/or medical laboratory testingInstrumentation experience and troubleshootingKnowledge of chemistry and biologyAdditional Skills & QualificationsHealthcare background is a plusWill accept Master's degreePay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00
