Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist to join our team. This role involves performing qualitative and quantitative analysis on specimens received in the laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the principles of tests performed and a working knowledge of the equipment used in their assigned station.
ResponsibilitiesPerform qualitative and quantitative analysis on all specimens received in the laboratory for the assigned station.Ensure that all specimens are appropriately stored.Follow all quality control policies and procedures to ensure reliable patient results.Recognize critical or life-threatening results, verify results, and report to the appropriate clinician.Document all results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).Essential SkillsNYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or valid permit issued by NYSDOE Clinical Laboratory to Technology.Knowledge of chemistry and hematology.ASCP certification is preferred but not required if holding a full New York State MLT license.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in clinical laboratory settings, specifically in blood bank, chemistry, and hematology.Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality control procedures.Excellent communication skills for reporting critical results to clinicians.Work Environment
The position is based in a hospital medical laboratory with over 30 MLTs on each shift. Departments include Micro, Blood Bank, General Lab, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urology. The shift hours are overnight from 11pm-7:30am or 12pm-8:30am. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and offers a growth-oriented environment. Benefits include competitive salary, holiday pay (6 days), and vacation pay (10 days).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00
