Responsibilities
The Blood Bank department at St. Joseph's hospital performs routine as well as emergency services for trauma and emergency patients oncology neonatal cardiovascular obstetric and pediatric patients. We use solid phase technology for antibody identification along with Immucor’s automated blood bank technology.St Joseph's Clinical Laboratory is a fast paced innovative laboratory supporting the Medical Center's various service lines. We are a large lab with over 150 employees among our 12 internal laboratory departments. In addition to the standard Chemistry Hematology Microbiology and Blood Bank departments we have a Surgical and Anatomic Pathology department a Cytogenetic laboratory and a growing Molecular laboratory. We serve the Emergency department with a limited service STAT lab and a Regional Perinatal laboratory that meets the needs of Perinatologists around the state of Arizona. We support St Josephs' Trauma Center Lung and Heart transplant programs and Barrow's Neurological Center. We support St Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center mission and philosophy with the Laboratory’s Vision of providing accurate laboratory results to insure optimal diagnosis and patient treatment through excellence innovation expertise and technology. We follow CLIA CLSI CAP and The Joint Commission requirements.The Anatomic Pathology Department is seeking a fulltime HISTOTECHNOLIGIST to join our team. Primary duties will be in surgical pathology area to include frozen section preparation accessioning specimen transport archive management cytology preparation and assisting during specimen gross examination. Knowledge of autopsy routines is desirable but not required.Located in Phoenix AZ this position is critical to the success of St. Joseph's Hospital Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS: HS/GED Diploma. One year histotech related experience.
