We are seeking a Histology Technician
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately mount tissue specimens on glass slidesExamine blocks and or slides to identify anatomical landmarks macroscopically or microscopically to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirementsDocument and maintain study records to comply with appropriate regulatory requirementsMinimum level of being proficient in the processing of tissue samples according to laboratory protocolsMinimum level of being proficient in the skill of embedding tissue into paraffin blocksMinimum level of being proficient microtomy and to generate quality tissue sections Review and understand data associated with the studyDemonstrated understanding of SOPs and Good Laboratory Practice regulations (21 CFR, Part 58) as these relate to study-specific services provided, this job description and general facility operationsDemonstrated proficiency in the use of relevant computer systems, specifically MS Excel, Word, and OutlookDocument all GLP, GCP, and process training, provide a CV and ensure that his/her training file is kept currentDocumenting all study and laboratory activities as required for compliance and to maintain study data files and specimens in an organized and confidential fashionPerform other duties as assigned QualificationsSkills and Abilities
Able to read and interpret test results and instrument specificationsFollow SOPs and other applicable laboratory or company proceduresInteract with clients, other employees, and the community in a professional mannerEffective organizational, written, and oral communication skillsAbility to adhere to all company policies, safety regulations and proceduresMaintain confidential informationSupport and participate in other company initiatives as directedAbility to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishDemonstrate Inotiv Core Values and adhere to Code of ConductEducation and Experience
High School Diploma or GEDOne year of relevant industry experience Certified Histology Technician HT or HTL(ASCP), ASCP board certified eligible Lab and GLP experience preferredPhysical Activity and Working Conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior office or laboratory environmentProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerThe noise level is usually moderateRequires moderate physical activity with frequent talking, standing, walking and repetitive movement of hands and fingers, reaching and lifting 10 -50 pounds.Use of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) when required (i.e., able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required)This position will frequently be involved with sharp, solvents, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, flammable materials, and biohazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological material (which may include HPB positive specimens), immunization to Hepatitis B and/or other diseases may be a requirement.*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
