Acute care hospital. Work is conducted inside with and around hazardous materials. Hazardous materials inventory and MSDS available. May be exposed to patients with communicable diseases and their blood and body fluids. Must wear protective attire when exposure is likely. Moderate noise in work area. Will work around moving machinery. Unpleasant smells, fumes and odors. Stress and related factors under conditions of pressure. Certification as a Histology Technician (ASCP) preferred. One year of training in histological techniques preferred. Training or completion of associates degree in histotechnology, laboratory science or medical laboratory technology preferred.
